Fret Portraits

Fret portraits are pictures made by cutting holes in wood.  The subject matter can be anything; animals, people, buildings, flowers, etc.  They can be cut from any wood and at any thickness the scroll saw will allow (up to about 2 inches).  Most of the framed ones I cut are from 1/8" to 1/4" high grade plywood.  The 1/8" plywood is either maple or Baltic birch, the 1/4" can be those or walnut, hickory, or cherry.  Most of the portraits are 8" x 10". The unframed portraits are usually cut from 1/2" to 3/4" solid wood.
