Most of the time scroll work is cut using a pattern. The pattern can be "attached" to the wood in one of four basic methods. 1) It can be glued directly to the wood (not recommended). 2) The pattern can be transferred to the wood with transfer or carbon paper. 3) They can be attached using double stick tape (there is some make specifically for that purpose). 4) The wood can be covered with masking or painters tape and the pattern then glued to the tape. I use either the third or fourth option.
Patterns can come from a variety of sources; magazines, books, online sources (free of purchased) or you can make your own. In this section I obtained the patterns from somewhere else, in other words, I didn't make them.
